This page covers what we keep when you visit the site, play the Zahler Pinball Dojo, send us a message or sign in, and why.
So only real, signed-in players can put scores on the public high score table, and so each score belongs to someone who can delete it.
Sign-in codes are sent for us by Postmark, an email delivery service. Postmark handles your email address to deliver the code.
If you tick the newsletter box, we add you to Jason's pinball tips newsletter, which runs on Kit. Kit sends its own email asking you to opt in, and every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. If you change your account email on Your Account, you can choose to have your newsletter subscription moved to the new address too.
We count visits with our own simple counter. It uses no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites. It records the page, how long it was open and how far you scrolled, your country and region, whether you're on a phone or computer, and your browser. When you play the Dojo, it also records how the game went (score, belt reached, how long you played) so we can make the game better. It never records your IP address or who you are.
When you use a contact form, we get your email address and your message, plus the page you sent it from and your country, so we can answer you. It reaches us by email through Postmark.
To stop spam and abuse, we limit how many scores, sign-in codes and messages one connection can send. For that we use a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address that can't be turned back into the address, and it's thrown away within a day. We never store your actual IP address.
Signing in sets one cookie, zp_session, which keeps you signed in on that device for up to 180 days. Signing out removes it. Scores you play without signing in stay on your own device.
Our site statistics note whether a visit came from a signed-in player (just yes or no, never who), and we count how many players sign up for the newsletter. We only ever look at totals.
Accounts are for players 13 or older.
Go to Your Account and tap Delete account at the bottom. We email you a code to confirm it's you. That removes your account, your sign-in, and every score you put on the public high score table.
